Greetings Martindale and Crossing Park families:

You have all noticed the snow has come again!

Please note that as a school, we always take care of the areas that belong to us. There are other areas that belong to the city and community which have been cleared by a community association volunteer; a big thanks!  If people ever want to help with snow clearance, please make contact with the Martindale Community Association at: (403) 590-2833.  Volunteers are always welcome to be part of the solutions and are appreciated.

REMINDER:  Wear appropriate boots and walk safely, too.   Ice and snow in Calgary winters means it gets slippery!

Should you have questions, concerns, or complaints regarding traffic or parking in our area; including the street or sidewalk around the school, we ask you to direct them to the appropriate enforcement agency by calling 311 or the Calgary Police Service Non-Emergency line at 403-266-1234.

Safety is very important to us, and we have taken many measures to promote active, safe walks to school and have had many safety conversations with students and have called upon Calgary Police to help us when needed.   However, we can only mandate and influence matters related directly to school property- not cars, sidewalks, parking and street rules.  We ask all of you to help us keep the community safe.

Remember: In many cases, parents/ guardians are the drivers.  You can help solve the issues!  We are blessed to have a school in a walking zone.   Driving is not always needed, and carpooling is encouraged due to limited road space.

Yours in safety,

Andrew Bews
