Greetings Crossing Park Families:
We are well into June and, as we conclude another remarkable year, we are proud to celebrate the growth, achievements, and dedication of our students, staff, and families.
Although it was an unusual year with a labour disruption in October, our focus on Safe, Happy, Learning did not deviate.
I could see this in the level of care of teachers and support staff showing up every day- in fact, Crossing Park School had the best staff attendance record in 2025! This year, our stats are very similar, and I expect the same result. It is clear to me that our teachers and support staff are committed to showing up and giving our best for students.
End-of-Year Reflection: Celebrating Student Growth and Success
Our 2025-26 Calgary Board of Education Student Survey results highlight the positive impact of our collective efforts. Compared to previous years, even more students report feeling connected, supported, and confident in their learning:
- 75% of students report that they feel included, up from 69% in both 2023-24 and 2024-25.
- 82% of students report that they feel welcome at school, continuing a steady increase from 73% in 2023-24 and 77% in 2024-25.
- 77% of students report having confidence in their learning, an increase from 69% in 2023-24 and 74% in 2024-25.
- 90% of students continue to recognize and value Indigenous ways of knowing and learning within our school community as we embrace our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation actions.
Safe, Happy, Learning: These results reflect our ongoing commitment to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging learning environment where every student can thrive.
We also have much to celebrate academically and socially:
- Grade 9 students achieved our strongest Reading PAT (raw score results) in the past four years, with more students achieving passing marks than in previous years.
- More than 80% of Grade 8 and 9 students report confidence that they can achieve the level of success in mathematics needed to reach their future goals.
- More than 90% of Grade 8 and 9 students indicate that Crossing Park School is a place where learning and extracurricular activities are safe and accessible for all students—physically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially.
- Students at Crossing Park consistently represent our school in yearly theatre productions "Dare to Dream", as well as finalist rankings in robotic competitions and winners of Calgary's Heritage Fair (showcase around identity and heritage).
- Crossing Park is well represented in every athletic team offered at the Middle & Junior High level- and do so with a reputation for fair play and consistent competitiveness!
These accomplishments are a testament to the perseverance of our students, the expertise and care of our staff, and the invaluable partnership of our families. Together, we have continued to build a safe, happy, learning culture where students feel they belong, believe in their potential, and are supported in achieving success.
A warm welcome to new families joining our community, including new Kindergarten students.
Finally, a special congratulations to our Grade 9 students who embark on the next phase of their learning at High School. They have the tools to find success- whatever that means for each student. They are prepared.
Sincerely,
Andrew Bews
